A POET AT HEART
Writing worth lingering over.
Essays, poems and observations on identity, memory, culture, and the complicated business of traits we inherit.
Carla is a writer, editor, and poet at heart.
Her writing explores identity, memory, family, culture, and the complicated spaces between them. Raised in Los Angeles as the daughter of Mexican immigrants, she is particularly interested in the stories we inherit, the places that shape us, and the contradictions we carry.
She is the author of American Mexican, a collection of poetry about Mexican-American identity and the experience of living between cultures. Her essays, poems, and other observations appear here in A Poet at Heart.
