A NEW YEAR: My Word for the Year?
I promised myself I'd be more consistent than this and yet here I am, about two months since my last blog post. It is the new year. Today is January 1, 2024. I found it interesting that it begins on a Monday. The beginning of the work week, the system that is pushed upon us by society; nonetheless it is quite special.
There seems to be a collective download going on. Loads of human energy putting forth intentions for the year. Two people I know from different circles asked me today if I had a word for the year. .
What came to mind, was a word I had come across on an Instagram trap the other day. It was a reel that was flashing different words. The directions in the caption read: Screenshot to find out what magic awaits you in 2024.
I did as I was told, and went ahead and snapped a capture. The word I captured was confidence. It seemed appropriate on so many levels. I then got curious and looked up the definition of the word and this is what came up:
This word seemed to make an entrance into my life at right time. During a transition. During a time in my life where I need to believe in my own abilities. In my marketability. And in my creativity. A feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities. What is it so hard to believe good things about ourselves?
This year, I want to let of the fear and embrace confidence in my abilities. What it feels so liberating to write that down.
HOW TO FIND YOUR WORD OF THE YEAR
Think about what you want to manifest in your life. Maybe you already have something in mind or maybe you are completely unaware or don't know and that's okay. Sometimes things present themselves to you in your everyday life, and we often dismiss them or they get lost in the flow of regular routine. Maybe your eye catches something online or a word on a billboard as your driving. If you start paying closer attention to your surroundings, I'll bet something is bound to pop out at you. Things will start to resonate.
